01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

At Kamome Coffee, part of the pleasure is choosing a cup by its flavour notes, not just its name. The original blends each have a distinct character: Franklin has a hint of acidity and plenty of depth; Bonaparte is described as gently acidic and sweet; and Hoiglin has a pronounced bitterness. Sayers is a lighter choice, while those interested in the flavours of beans from particular regions might try Sidamo from Ethiopia, noted for its fruity aroma, soft acidity and sweetness. Some visitors have mentioned Bonaparte’s lovely aroma, and appreciated being able to choose a coffee based on its description.

For something sweet alongside your coffee, try the house-made coffee jelly, made with coffee brewed from extra-dark-roasted beans. One customer tried it black, without added sweetness, and thought it also paired well with ice cream. Enjoy the deep-roast flavour on its own or combine it with ice cream; coffee lovers can explore the same ingredient in both a cup and a dessert.

For breakfast, Set A comes with a drink of your choice, half a slice of buttered toast and a mini salad. Set B includes a drink, a slice of toast, salad and fruit. For a lighter bite, there is also the day’s pound cake, made with Yotsuba butter and unrefined cane sugar, or an Ogura butter sandwich made with a special red-bean paste from the confectionery workshop 菓子工房 藤原富寿堂 in Kohama Shopping Street. You can enjoy your coffee in the shop or take home beans and drip bags. There are 3 drip-bag varieties, and a tasting set lets you try 3 varieties, making it easy to enjoy a favourite at home. One visitor to the café seating area described enjoying coffee and handmade seagull-shaped cookies in a bright space decorated with bird pictures and seagull mobiles.
